Stretch & Meditation Class

Where: The Mews, E3 4TS

When:   7:15pm-8:45pm, approx. 3rd Friday a month

Cost:      £30 per class

 

12th April, 17th May, 21st June 2019

To be able to meditate, the body and mind have to be open. The purpose of Yoga used to be a preparation of the physical body to sit in meditation for a prolonged period of time. 

 

This class begins with an hour-long stretch routine, created for the specific needs of the attendees. Because classes are limited to six people, each person can receive individual attention, questions can be answered and adjustments can be made to ensure safe yet deep stretching.

 

The aim is to:

  • mobilise your joints

  • elongate your muscles, tendons and ligaments

  • reduce or eliminate physical restrictions 

  • create balanced strength and flexibility

 

Props like blocks, balls, belts, and stretch bands may be used if necessary.

 

In the second part of the class, you will practice certain breathing techniques, chosen each time for its appropriateness, depending on the participants and circumstances. These techniques help to further still the mind, the prerequisite for meditation.

 

Wear comfortable clothes and bring some layers. It is easy to get cold whilst sitting in meditation.
